This was a fine book. Mixing Church history along with the hymns that have always been important in the Church. Makes for a good devotional read after dinner with the family and finding most of them on YouTube was easy enough. A couple points at issue is that the Bible verses are either KJV or The Message translation. I get the reason because of copyright issues (because of course people have to be an issue and copyright their Bible version. There were several times, I yucked out of reading show more their printed version and just pulled out my own. Not the most ideal for a one-stop-shop devotional. There were also a lot more citations of Methodist hymns. This is not to say they are bad or shouldn't be acknowledged or anything that kicks anyone out of the kingdom but the deference given was noticable. The worst was the inclusion of a song made by a Unitarian and the author(s) talking about how God uses all types of people to create hymns for worship. I'm sorry, but no. No LDS or JWs were cited so why the inclusion of this hymn with this message was in very poor taste. Overall, a nice family devotional over an area I was happy to receive some knowledge in.
