The Making of Modern South Africa: Conquest, Segregation and Apartheid (Historical Association Studies) by Nigel Worden
Damn, some academic writing is boring.
I dutifully waded through this, but it didn't do a very good job of explaining to me quite how all the pieces fitted together. Especially poor on the issue of what happened while I was growing up there, eg cultural issues like the arrival of TV, and the wars in Angola and
Nambia.
