As with most end-user oriented software, the basics of TextMate are intuitive, rendering a paper manual superfluous for anyone except power users. But since the whole point of a fully-featured and extensible editing program like TextMate (essentially the Mac's answer to emacs) is to enable you to become a power user, this book is worth it. The more arcane movement and selection commands you could learn from help files and poking around the menu on your own, but it's helpful to have things show more written out in tutorial form. And this book is the only good documentation I've found for authoring your own bundles. show less
