Nick is opening his presents from his birthday party when he opens a gift that is unique. The gift is sunflower seeds and quickly wants to plant them. Nick gets to see the transformation of the seed to a sunflower and it turns out to be the best present he has ever received. This was a cute book and very informative. In the classroom this book would be helpful in a science class when talking about how things grow. This book would break down steps for the children to see how "Nick" made his show more flower grow. I would make a big deal out of this lesson by allowing the children to watch their own flower grow and write a story about their experience like Nick's. This book is very easy to read with very low level sentences. It would be great for a struggling reader and great for lower grades. show less
