The author is a dear friend, but even if I didn't know him, I'd give this one five stars. I know the Anderson family well, and I know it is impossible to tell their story--a story of genius, art, mental illness, wild spirit in a little Mississippi town, and survival--without displeasing some of them. We all have our versions of the family story. However Christopher has done a masterful job of examining Walter Anderson's (very) uneasy life--and the lives of those he loved--and has shaped show more meticulous research into a wonderfully readable book. show less
