Fairies mess with human lovers.

There are some nice visuals here and there, and a couple small laughs from Joe E. Brown, but otherwise there's not really anything worth seeing. And Mickey Rooney's performance is so obnoxious that the movie is almost unwatchable.

Plutôt déçue de ce film trop long dont j'attendais beaucoup. Bien sûr, les images tournées en forêt sont belles, féeriques et originales mais l'ennui a quand même prévalu. Le jeu de l'acteur incarnant Puck m'a assommée.

In this classic screen adaptation of Shakespeare's fantastical play, the royal wedding plans of Theseus, the duke of Athens (Ian Hunter) and Hippolyta overlap with the antics of forest fairies. Meanwhile, young lovers, including Lysander (Dick Powell) and Hermia (Olivia de Havilland), deceive each other in amusing ways, and magic adds a mischievous element to this enchanted romantic comedy.
