1497 The Establishment of the Balkan National States, 1804-1921, by Charles and Barbara Jelavich (read 31 Aug 1978) Once in a while one should read a book about a subject one knows little about. This I have just done: a book on the Balkans from 1804 to 1920. It is a rather large area, and covers quite a momentous era. Quite well done, and I believe I learned quite a bit. But I'm not sure I'll read more in the area.
