Short biography
Daniel Reitz is an American playwright, screenwriter, and director whose career covers extensive Off-Broadway and independent New York theater production. An alumnus of the New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship program, his multi-decade dramatic canon is anchored by works such as Urban Blight, Self-Storage, and Studies for a Portrait. His sweeping accolades include a Drama Logue Award, the W. Kepler Wehr Playwriting Award, and fellowships from the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. Reitz's cinematic adaptations of his own plays have screened internationally at major film festivals including the London Film Festival, the Los Angeles International Film Festival, and the New York Lesbian and Gay Film Festival. He is an openly out gay artist whose texts routinely explore the psychological and political complexities of queer urban lives and artistic inheritance
