Merrill De Maris

Fleshing out the prince somewhat by expanding the section where he meets Snow White (including an adorable flirtation with a made-up bucket-headed prince on her part which clearly inspired a similar section in the beginning of the film "Enchanted") and adding a stint by him in the dungeon and added motivation on the part of the evil queen, this otherwise efficient comic amazingly reads as an extended cut of the film (I assume these additional sections were present in early drafts or story show more boards and were later cut for time). All the more impressive considering this Norwegian translation is apparently 4 pages shorter than the original English comic. Between that and lovely (if sometimes underproduced) artwork that matches the film but has its own colour scheme and identity, this comic (originally a Sunday newspaper strip as old as the film) is surprisingly a very nice way to re-experience an old classic. show less
