Joshua Ross

A sweet slice of life about a struggling artist as one relationship ends and another begins. A long late-act flashback adds detail but not emotional weight. While Ross makes a few interesting choices with panels and gutters, and a few splash pages invite us to linger, for the most part Left Turns holds its characters in a sit-com mid range that allows one to two characters per panel. I'm left with the feeling of having read a storyboard rather than a graphic novel.
