Sonny James had no idea what to expect when Luki Vasquez wandered across his path - but he figured the man could bring something new into his life. Turns out that was an understatement. Luki can definitely ignite Sonny's passions, but they are together quickly pulled into a multi-state chase that leaves both of their lives in jeopardy.

I'd heard bits and pieces about this series before jumping in and now I can see why people have such great things to say about it. The reader is definitely show more taken on quite the adventure with these two men. This is also one of those books that keeps you guessing - assuming nothing truly bad can happen to the main characters or those close to them just seems like something you shouldn't do. I definitely like the feel, the speed, the pacing - and am very keen to pick up the second book. show less
The entire concept of the book was magnificent. All the characters were so well-developed, I felt like they were here with me - or I was with them. The story built wonderfully and in such a manner that I literally could not stop reading it until I had read the full book. I would LOVE to see more of Gunny and Daren and the Holiday Home Hotel!
I'm generally a big fan of fairy tale retellings, and this story definitely has good bones. There were a few things that stopped it from getting a higher rating though. The biggest issue of which was that it almost read more like a history book. All of the story was there but it just wasn't presented in a super engaging way.
After everything they have been through, one would hope that Luki Vasquez and Sonny James live happily ever after following their romantic wedding in Hawaii. But when you've crossed paths with organized crime and deranged men with fragile egos, it can be hard to shake what's occurred in the past. When one of those deranged men targets Luki's nephew, Jackie, Luki and Sonny find themselves spending their honeymoon tracking him down and hoping they can bring him home safely. It is not only a show more race against time--it's also a race against what can only be described as pure evil.
