Solaris Internals: Solaris 10 and OpenSolaris Kernel Architecture (2nd Edition) by Richard McDougall
It's not the best book about the Solaris kernel internals, but it's the only one. So you don't have any better alternatives (except the source code). The book is quite similar to "understanding linux kernel". It contains a lot of source code copy-pastes and brief explanation of how it works. It's definitely not the book you'd like to read from cover to cover, but it may help to understand "the big picture" of some essential parts of Solaris kernel and it works pretty good like a sort of show more reference manual. When you have basic questions reading the source code, "Solaris internals" is probably the first place you would seek for answers. Unfortunately it doesn't covers "deep details" of Solaris kernel organization, it can answer only on very basic questions (how scheduler works, how memory manager is organized in Solaris, how to debug kernel, etc). show less
