I wasn’t sure that I’d like this book - as I’m not really a big fan of crime or thrillers. However, I was very impressed with this book. It had mystery, personal tragedy and the inclusion of magic.
I was pleased with the ending too. It was an ending in the aftermath of a solved mystery and murders, but it was still ended with one key element; hope. A lot of books have tragedy and end with tragedy and depression, whereas show more although the book ends with two main characters having suffered injury and loss, there is a sense of hope hinted at by the birdsong.
All in all, I very much enjoyed this book and I wouldn’t mind reading more by the same author again in the future. show less
