John Oliver Reed (1929–2012) was a Demy at Magdalen, reading English. Having got a First, he taught briefly at the University of Edinburgh and King's College, before moving to Africa, where he taught in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe both before and after independence, and Zambia, and then also in China and Japan.
