Joseph Kinsey Howard (1906–1951)

Kinsey-Howard was not a historian, he was a journalist and activist in Montana during the mid-20th century. This book is a fascinating and readable introduction to Montana history which can be wonderful or horrible, depending on who writes it! Kinsey-Howard's book shares qualities of very good travel-writing, it is engaging and exciting, covers a wide range of topics many historians don't seem to notice. The first 3/4 are interesting, the last quarter reads like a polemical editorial.
