- Brenda is unlike most authors since she only began writing a few years ago. Her first book Fates, an adult fantasy, was published in 2010. Her love for reading fantasy & paranormal erotic romance has caused her to discard her Bachelors Degree in Management in order to write full time.
Don't let the phrase 'erotic romance' throw you! Brenda's novels are rich in plot with characters you will crave to read about.
Brenda resides in Tampa, FL when not attending conventions and is the Chapter Coordinator for the Tampa Bay O.G.R.E.s as well as a volunteer with the Tampa Bay Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. She is also an active member in organizing the Tampa Bay Leather n' Fetish Pride weekend and an associate member of the Tampa Leather Club.

Peter is a stow-away on a boat. When the captain finds Peter, he throws him off the boat into the ocean. In the ocean Peter meets Cuke, a sea-elf. Cuke saves Peter. They have great sex while surviving on a remote Caribbean Island. They make a baby. All is well. Good story.

On the plus side:
- Stranded/marooned/survival set-up. Definitely a plus.
- Gender-fluid sea-elf, interspecies. So, so cool! 'Cause Enemy Mine, people!!!! Three pluses :D
On the ...ahem ...other side:
CUKE, the sea-elf. Took me a few (dozen) pages to stop thinking about sea cucumbers :/ But only during the times when Peter and Cuke didn't have sex, cause:
- What century am I in?
At first, for whatever reason, I assumed - present times. But then there are all kinds of mentions of a royal family. A historical, then? 75% into the book Cuke "heard the human surface craft land" - a sci-fi? Cause I have no clue what that "human surface craft" is - a Cessna? a space shuttle? an escape pod? a fisherman boat? a canoe? Noah's Arc? starship Enterprise? крейсер Аврора? what?
- What count... forget country, what planet is Peter from? @.@
We are supposedly in the Caribbean. Yet Peter is an honest to god Prince. Peter and his brother Paul (names used exclusively by royals) are drinking alcohol at the tender age of 16 back home, wherever that is. Peter is also having all kinds of sex and making babies at that same age. Did Peter stow-awayed all the way from Luxembourg or United Kingdom? Belgium? No? Japan??
Here is a quiz for you. Which country:
- still sports a royal family that uses Paul and Peter exclusively AND
- has the age of consent set at 16 AND
- has legal drinking age set at 16 (or possibly even younger)?
Don't know? Me neither. Must be a different planet.
- Star fruit. I read about it enough in the past day or so to be fed up with it for the next couple of years. Thank you very much *burp*.
Bottom line: Could have been a great story if executed better. Adding all my plusses and rounding up to 2 instead of down to 1.

I just completed the 5th book. I feel like the series is finally FINALLY filling out. I’ll be honest, I nearly walked away after the first book. I mean it felt like I was just reading some form of porn. I stuck it out though bc I’m ocd about finishing books I start and the audio I have paired 1&2 together. So I continued. 2 felt the tiniest bit better so I read 3 hoping the author would catch their stride. Book 4.... what the heck do I just read/listen to? Anyway, there is a book series show more I absolutely loved that was split up the same way this one was. I read somewhere that that series the first several books were meant to be one but the publisher insisted it be split up. (Idiotic). The thing about that series though, was that the first 4 were meh until book 5 (the first that didn’t get paired. Book 5 their was where I really felt the story began to move and progress but none of book 5 would have been nearly as good without the background from the previous four. I know it seems like I’m rambling but I have a point. By book 2 I decided to view this series the same way.
In my head I told myself the paired books (1 2,3 4, & 5 6) really should be just 1 really big book. As individual books, each of the first four would have annoyed me. But by looking at them as parts of one, I think I mostly liked it... (the chaos at the end of 4 throws me a bit). Book five finally felt like a full single instalment. The start was still a bit drawn out but it almost had to be to give the basic “intro to next book and reminder of prev” info dump. I also appreciate that while there still is a TON of sex, it feels more like those moments serve a purpose in the story rather than sex just to up the word/page count.
I am mostly glad I stuck it out this far and am looking forward to book 6. (Which I started 5 minutes after finishing book 5.) show less

Major events occur in this instalment. More betrayals and lies are exposed and serious personal and group adjustments are made. It’s a good transition from the first 5 to what the near future holds. Kinda like the author decided some serious plot points needed correcting so they literally blow everything up and start fresh. :)
While I did not care for this tale of rivals-to-lovers, I expect there are some that will gladly overlook what I found distasteful just to get to the sex. 'Cuz the sex was rough, angry and brutal. I love that, yes sir, but when there is no emotion behind it, it's just plain 'ol sex to me. And you can get plain 'ol sex anywhere on the WWW for free.
The MCs in this book, Tommy Flame and Tigger Flint (seriously) were together for the sex and for the sex only for 95% of the book. Both of their show more code of ethics' left a LOT to be desired. They treated each other horribly and their fellow hook-ups and co-works and friends just as badly, if not worse at times. I never once felt a flicker of emotion in either one of them.
So, not for me, but if you want hot, angry sex and not much else, go for it and enjoy!
Cannot recommend.
PS: Those wanting firefighter and/or police action in your books, you do get BOTH here. Wasn't enough to sway my opinion of the book, but it may be enough to temp you to read it! show less
