Although Ed Leeflang (1929 – 2008) published all of his works in 20 years between 1979 and 1999, he is already quite forgotten as a poet. Leeflang worked as a teacher and this collection of poetry, Op Pennewips plek contains poems about education.

Op Pennewips plek was Leeflang's third volume of poetry, published in 1982. The poems in this collection are portraits of colleague teachers and their behavior is the classroom. Although not mentioned by name in the text, the description in the show more poems are based on real people.

Pennewip is the fictional character of a teacher that appeared in Multatuli's novel Woutertje Pieterse.
