Amusing, warm, and informative, this etiquette guide for boys strikes all the right notes. Covers the basics, and a bit beyond.
I wish I'd had this as a kid. I like that it encourages young men to act like young men, not little boys. It also provides a modern perspective on classic manners.
My mother bought this for me, and every young man should have a copy. The author comes from the perspective that the true gentleman isn't one who (only) understands "complicated rules" like which fork to use, but rather is someone who "make[s] life easier" for those around him.

The author then lays out useful bits of advice for doing so, as well as how to avoid putting yourself in an embarrassing situation.
There are ways for people in general to be more mindful of thier manners and in general themselves. People at times forget simple thngs like making sure there is a napkin on the side of a plate. Other people may forget to say a simple thank-you when someone opens a door for them. Other insights include having a clean way about ones self, not to take advantage of someone for your own way or pleasure. How to tip, what is proper for a gentelman to do in most practically any situation. The show more results will also be appropiate to a woman as well. Many things have challenged society in being aware of manners, this has not had the best advantages. People at times appear to be in too much of a hurry even for simple check-in's with ones elderly relatives. People are in a big hurry with cars that would do better on race tracks than on city streets. Many have also stepped away from the teachings of thier churches and other places of worship. As a result the reaction is often one of rejection in place of reception. Anger as a means of sharing emotion, since emotions may appear weak, boredom replaces new experiences as more gameing is being played. Many people are somewhere inbetween, but a reminder of having manners and why they are important should help bolster even the most ardent of mindsets. show less
