I really enjoyed this book. I've always pretended that I could have been a doctor if I wanted to. This book clearly convinces me that I can't, I shouldn't and I won't. I especially liked how the author was able to relay her internal struggles with her career and her eventual realization. The parts regarding her experiences wih Doctors without Borders is devastating and painfully eye opening.
A very engrossing account of the day-to-day life of an emergency room physician. There were some chapters about the author's work with Doctors Without Borders as well. The style of writing gave me a very immediate sense of the breath-holding dramas that happen in ER several times a day.
Fairly good portrayal of life in the (US) ER, by someone who clearly cares a lot and lets it show. Can't comment on the portrayal of life with MSF, etc.
