I read this in just three short sittings. I enjoyed the pace and the references to the Golden Age of movies. Also some of the action took place in Solvang, California; a place I've been and enjoyed.

When Zeke takes on the case for an old actress friend, it is more of a favour than a real case. He is feeling his age and thinking about retiring in a couple of years. What starts as finding a missing friend turns into a real chance to solve a true mystery of murder. The hard part is that has been show more unsolved for fifty years. The trail has gone cold and the clues have disappeared...or in this case been long buried.

His persistence and early training along side Dashiell Hammett at Pinkerton's give him the tools to dig out the clues and make some interesting discoveries.
