A slim (25 page) pamphlet on how to maintain graveyards, from the Irish Office of Public Works. It’s not clear who’s the intended audience; it’s noted some graveyards are owned by churches, some are national property, and some are privately owned. The would-be restorer is advised to verify ownership before proceeding. There are a lot of “don’ts”; don’t clear the land in the summer (to avoid disturbing wildlife), don’t level the ground, don’t straighten tilted gravestones, show more don’t plant wildflowers, don’t do much of anything without notifying everybody and getting expert advice. I imagine it will come in handy if anybody asks about the suspicious depressions in the back yard. Heavily illustrated. Suggestions for further reading. show less
This is mostly about the Built environment, only a few chapters on things like pottery and decoration, probably more of interest to architecture students (tho the apologia for the newer extensions felt a little out of place).
Interesting but not really me.
