Sparse, rhythmic, rhyming text is first accompanied by animals - squirrels, foxes, rabbits, birds, raccoons - and then humans with blue-toned skin, gathering to celebrate around an autumn meal. The illustrations are lovely and detailed, but some of the design choices are dubious; one page has medium-blue text on a night sky background. Still, a deliciously cozy story for fall, especially around Thanksgiving.

This really is a sweet take on a familiar nursery rhyme and instead focuses on the season of winter and light. There is a little bit of holiday representation but that is not the bulk of the text.
