This is the first NEW Peterson guide in years. If you are a bird watcher, this is a must-have. The beginning of the book tells the reader/bird enthusiast how they might use this book, a bit of a helpful primer. Most of the book is about nest identification but it also offers some specifics on mating systems and behavior, and nest building techniques. Of course, the nests are interesting, but the “nesting strategies” are equally interesting:-) On a practical level it can still be tough to show more identify some nests without the eggs in it, but most nests are different enough to make a reasonable conclusion.

This is a great book for reference at home or on trips but also for leaving off the shelf so you can dip into it whenever you have a moment. show less
