Isabel Wyatt (1901–1992)

I bought this book for my son when he was seven. He was attending a Waldorf School at the time. This is one of the books our family was introduced to through Waldorf and its pedagogy, which attempts to instill in children a reverence for nature.

By contemporary standards, it is a bit on the too-precious side. Still it does a good job of telling stories that gel with the intellectual and emotional development of a seven-year-old.

Beautifully written and enchanting stories, if a little repetitive at times.

I think that I'll have to read this again. I do own it in paper. I should like it. I do like original fairy tales. But none of these stuck with me, made me think, made an impression.

And I only have one book-dart: "Kill or cure, end or mend, to *** I must wend."
