all the contents of a reiki 101 manual without being a reiki 101 manual. this is organized alphabetically and peppers in western and eastern concepts about reiki, as well as buddhist terminology. There are tiny writeups for various reiki personages, including contemporaries like Hyakuten Inamoto and Hiroshi Doi, as well as many of Takata's 22 masters. most of the entries are better as reminders of what we've already learned (kind of like reiki on a holistic level!) but there are detailed show more entries that are quite interesting to delve into. show less

If you're interested in Reiki, this is THE book to have. It contains an extremely comprehensive and factual (or as factual as is possible to date) history of both Japanese and Western systems, and how the two have developed. There are a lot of myths about Reiki out there, this book helps to dispel them. Not only that, but it's also an incredibly useful resource - it contains a comprehensive Reiki glossary, an entire section devoted both to original Japanese and Western techniques, along show more with branch listings and other useful tidbits.

It's also a damn good read, and a book that I will no doubt be constantly referring to.

The concept for this book is a good one, but sadly this does not live up to the potential inherent in the concept. As usual, the Steine's have passed off their highly suspect assumptions as historical fact, and failed to keep their own biases in check. A measure applied to one aspect or tradition of Reiki as proof of its legitimacy, is not applied elsewhere, depending on which aspects of the Reiki system the Steine's wish to promote around their own teachings. A good book to have as show more background on many aspects of Reiki but should be read with a big pinch of salt... show less
A-Z Reiki Pocketbook
Everything About Reiki
by Bronwen and Frans Stiene

This awesome 254+ page Reiki encyclopedia with it's illustrations, photos, and diagrams really helped me to get a quick and deep understanding of the tradition and overall beauty of Reiki. I totally fell in love with the format of this exciting pocket sized source book. As a Reiki Master, I found having the info this handy a plus when teaching my students.

Laid out in topics A-Z I was able to just leaf through and learn show more about words and people I had heard of before, but didn't fully understand, and then I was left with a much clearer picture. I found the information presented in an easy bullet style that let me get what I needed very simply. I would recommend this delightful and insightful little wonder to anyone interested in Reiki at any level, and this great pint sized emissary has made it's way straight to my spiritual tool box.

Love & Light,

Riki Frahmann
