The Story of King Arthur & His Knights is a collection of tales belonging to the King Arthur mythology. It starts with Arthur drawing the sword from the stone and ends with Sir Gawain marrying his fairy wife. Though not the greatest collection of King Arthur tales I have read, it was just perfect for reading aloud with my son. He loved the stories and it definitely piqued his interest in King Arthur.
Peter Pan is one of those books that you pick up and don't want to put down. On her last night in the family nursery Wendy is told that she will now have a room of her own and that it is time that she grew up. Her mother is a romantic, dreamy sort who to me seemed a little
scatterbrained however from Barrie's description tends to be budget aware like Mr Darling as they are both very poor and trying to live up to the standards of the neighbors - hence Nana the "nurse" (a St Bernard).
The actual show more story and the introduction of Peter Pan takes place on the last night of Wendy's stay in the nursery. Peter arrives to hear one of her stories (about him of course) and upon hearing of her delemma ends up teaching Wendy and her brothers, John and Michael, how to fly and then takes them to Neverland.
As the story goes on you meet "The Lost Boys", Hook the Pirate, a tribe of Indians and many more characters. There are parts of the book that of course never made it in the movies - it would be much too long if they did. As always I strongly encourage parents to read the classics (the original if your kids will listen to them). Disney doesn't tend to stay on script and much of the story is left out. Your kid's should definitely hear the story in it's entirety. show less

This book is about a mortal named Odysseus who is trapped by and is trying to get home to his wife and son after being away for more than 10 years. With the help of the Goddess Athena, he returns home after fighting in the Sparta War. He fights off all the suitors and reclaims his wife and his kingdom. The themes of love and forgiveness really shine through this book. I think this is a really great book for kids to read to learn about Greek Mythology because it is a retold story of the show more Odyssey in a much simpler version. This could be used in the classroom to understand more about Greek culture and mythology and an introduction into more mythologies from other cultures. show less
This is a modified version of the original Peter Pan story. I did a read-aloud for the kids and it made the plot approachable by getting old English writing out of the way.
