Oh, that was lovely! There definitely need to be more horse-shifter stories, if they are as good as this one. I loved the touches of humour!
Oliver Reyes is a slightly nerdy kickboxer who is part of an elite team in San Francisco. Oliver is also more than slightly gay and has a crush on the team's captain, Derek Vance. Oliver is not very obvious about his crush, certain that it's unlikely Derek would reciprocate. When the team travels to Las Vegas for a competition, Oliver goes out to scope out entertainment options for a future trip with his friends, and what he finds is more than he expected.

I really liked this story. It's show more sweet and fluffy with a dash of racy heat thrown in--something I think is expected from a Nico Jaye story. The pacing is a bit inconsistent, with a lot of slow build and then very quick resolution that almost leaves some things feeling unresolved. Though that just increases my desire to read and know more about these characters...if they might possibly resurface somewhere in the future. show less
A werewolf who doesn’t shift until he meets his mate? And when he’s met him or her, doesn’t know who it is when back in human form? A werewolf who is as clueless as the rest of us until he is mated and gets his wolf senses even in human form? That is bound to lead to some errors, misunderstandings, and general confusion—and that’s exactly what this story is all about. Both main characters are clueless, and I have to blame most of their antics for the first half of the book on some show more sort of hormone overload. I mean, even a human would not miss all the signals they’re both giving off… At least I don’t think so. Nevertheless, once I had accepted the “rules” of this supernatural world, I was able to lean back and thoroughly enjoy Tanner’s and Jon’s fumbling to find “the one” for them.

Tanner knows the moment he starts his new job that he’s found his mate. But since his human senses can’t identify him or her, and his wolf senses don’t come in until he is mated, he has a problem. He starts a search by dating the men he suspects might be it for him, only for each one to drop off the radar rather quickly. The solution is too obvious (at least I thought so), and I had great fun seeing Tanner run in circles and missing all the clues. When he finally does figure it out, it is almost too late. And then all sorts of mayhem starts happening, making for a very tense second half of the book. All in all, this was a great mix of humor, a tender romances, and some surprising evil trying to make everything undone.

If you’re looking for werewolf alphas of a different kind (i.e., without a testosterone overload), if two clueless men trying to understand what the heck is going on sounds like fun, and if you’re looking for a cute, humorous read with lots of sweet romance and a touch of the supernatural, then you will probably like this novella.

A very entertaining story about the kind of things college students might get up to in a fraternity – whether real or imagined, their antics made me smile. The setup is interesting with the seniors trying to beat the juniors in a fundraising event once a month, and whoever wins gets to “punish” the other group. Sounds like fun, right? Well, some of the punishments mentioned made me cringe but then, I’m no longer a college student.

Kyle tells the story, and he has a definite crush on show more Dice, a junior American-Japanese transfer student who recently rushed Kyle’s fraternity. Kyle finds Dice very distracting, yet isn’t able to make any progress in his flirting. He is so frustrated that he is convinced that Dice is straight. Then the seniors lose the fundraising bet, and the juniors get to “punish” them. There is a whole week between that decision and the actual event – and each day the flirting and attempts to get closer to Dice leave Kyle more frustrated. As for Saturday? You’ll have to read this free story for yourself. All I will tell you is that it’s creative, hot, and very touching all at the same time.

If you’re looking for a short, entertaining read about college student antics, and if you believe a little mystery is the spice of life, then you will probably like this free short story.
