Jon Green is originally from York, where he started birding in 1975. Following a degree in Environmental Biology at Aberystwyth and a PGCE, he has taught Biology in Haverford West and Newcastle Emlyn, latterly as Head of Science. An active birder in Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion, he has been sub-editor of the Pembrokeshire Bird Report since 1991, taking over as joint County Recorder in 2006. He is co-author of Birding in Pembrokeshire and Where to Watch Birds in Wales. A member of WOS since its foundation in 1988, he has served on Council for several years as Honorary Secretary. In 1997 he became a Welsh Bird Report section editor and was the main editor for nine years. He wrote and published Birds in Wales 1992-2000 and was species author for rare and scarce species in the 2021 Birds of Wales. He has been Honorary Secretary of WBRC since 1996 and organises the circulation of records and the production of the annual report.
