I met this author last summer and he impressed me enough for me to pick up his novel. Unfortunately, I read the prologue—five and a half pages—and found fourteen grammatical errors or editing mistakes. By the end of the chapter, I was more caught up in counting errors than following the story.

And then I turned to the back of the book, to the Acknowledgements page, where he thanked someone for their "razor-sharp editing."

Nope. Sorry. Nice guy, but the book—at least the first few show more pages—are a mess. Editing is important. I'm out. show less
