I enjoyed learning about one of Australia’s great political leaders, when initially, I didn’t think I would. The letters, judiciously edited by his daughter Heather Henderson, portray a very human family man. The love and concern for his daughter shine through. They have a unique, strong emotional connection with each other.
I skimmed through most of the political goings on, but it is interesting to read of his forthright opinions of his partners and opponents in battle.
An insightful show more encounter with a real statesman. Politics have certainly gone downhill since he left office. show less
