Short biography
Moira Shearer started dance lessons as a small child and then received formal training in London with Flora Fairbairn and Nicholas Legat. She became a leading ballerina at the Sadler's Wells Ballet (later the Royal Ballet), starring in classic ballets such as Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, and Cinderella. However, she is best-known for her starring role as Vicky Page in the 1948 film "The Red Shoes." She married journalist Ludovic Kennedy and had four children. In 1952, she left Sadler's Wells and went on to act in other films and work as a newspaper writer and radio announcer.
