For the avid pop music trivia buff, this book is a veritable bible. Every song from 1955 on that ever cracked Billboard Magazine's Top 40 is listed in an easy to use format. You can look up a song alphabetically by title or artist. You'll discover not only how high a particular song charted, but how many weeks it spent in the Top 40 and whether or not it went gold or platinum. Includes album cover artwork to many of the singles from the 50s to the present day. The "records holder" section show more shows who dominated the charts each year, by decade, and all-time. Does Madonna have as many top 40 hits as The Beatles? How many weeks did the Starland Vocal Bands "Afternoon Delight" spend at #1? Buy it, and find out! Overall, a fun, interesing reference work that's sure to bring back childhood music memories ("oh yeah, I remember that song!") with just a flip of the page. This review is not a K-TEL production, nor sponsored by Soft Cheesy Rock of the 70s. show less
Wonderful resource which not only has every album to hit the Billboard Top 200 but also list every song on every album! I don't think a week goes by when I don't use this book for one reason or another.
Indispensable volume listing every single that made the Billboard Top 100 from 1955-1996. I probably won't need to updated this, since after the mid 90's, between the bad music and the changes in consuption of music (mp3s, Napsgter, iTunes, etc.) who really cares about the charts now?
Lists every US chart album between 1955 and 2001, but also - and this is why it's so damned good - it lists every track on every album! Indispensible.
