P. Gifford Longley

I've read my share of self published books and most of the time I was left feeling vastly disappointed. But not so with his book. I saw this at the book table at my church and quickly picked it up. I knew one of the writers, P. Gifford Longley, as a man sitting in a pew! Had no idea he was a writer too. And his collaborator, a woman named Vera Bondar Abbott, also a church member, did all the translating of her mother's diaries and notes. This story is about Elena Bondar, Vera's mother, who show more lived under Communism in the early 20th century. It is not just the story of Elena, but is also a glimpse into religious persecution, economic deprivation and personal grief and loss.
