Catherine De Vinck

This is a beautiful, and elegiac, collection of poems from a quite unknown poet. de Vinck combines a clear passion for nature with a dedicated, if sometimes doubtful, spirituality. The product is powerful, and evocative; quickening in its subtlety and shaming in its breadth of form as well as substance. Most who know her name, might relegate de Vinck to the shelves of religious poets, but her vision extends far beyond the simple tenets of faith to questions of personal morality and show more mortality.
