FAV line everrrrrr everest ever:
My seven a.m. teacher was from France. And he spoke Frenglish. Sometimes it was funny, but when he announced which chapters we should study and the names came out in English, but the chapter numbers came out in French, I wanted to strangle the sacre bleu out of him.

FAV quote from Falcon:
"One way or the other, come back to me, in a month, or a year, when you’re old, a haunt in my dreams, an invasion of my sanity, make a way to come back.”

My latest book show more boyfriend: Falcon.
Kellan-like needy and vulnerable. A too serious should-probably-take-a-chill-pill sweet, loving, strong, soft, adorable, good, loyal, stand-up guy. Some will probably think he needs to "get a life".
She is the love of his life from the moment he sees her. No cheating. He needs to be with her and love her and give her everything she needs. He wants to bind her to him forever yet even when he knows he might lose her, he does right by her. He has everything: loving family, financial security. It means nothing without her. Obsessed, protective, possessive and jealous. In his quite non dramatic way.
He cries during a tear-jerker moment to do with his family.
She irritates me but is young and hardworking and adores him and has more than her fair share of problems. Poor girl.

It's book 2 of the Love and Skate Series. Don't have to read bk 1 but it was nice catching up with the Hxh from bk 1. Never thought I'd like this one. I nearly didn't read it cos I judged the book by its cover and didn't think I'd connect with punk-style H. Editing problems. Ending too abrupt, although they are together and I'm happy about where they are. Possible installment, although the next book in the series covers another hero and heroine.

I read an excerpt of Hoax, just one chapter and I couldn't wait for it to be released. Now that I finally got to read it, I really liked it, just wished it were longer.

Hoax is one of those books that I might give away too much in a review so I'm gonna keep it short and not say or rather write too much about the plot.

Corinne is a sweet, confident, real girl. She's not fake and is as honest as can be. I really appreciated and was surprised how frank, and witty she was when she finally had show more someone to converse with. Which brings us to Abel, who was a caring, laid back kinda guy. He was such a romantic and sweet boyfriend, always putting Corinne first and making sure she was safe. They were a couple of really great protagonists.

Corinne is used to taking care of herself and prefers to sulk and suffer alone, she believes it means she's weak to ask for help. While Abel thinks not getting your hands dirty and just being a spectator to bullying is okay and doesn't want to mess with the status quo. I guess this book could also be called Alone since that was how Corinne and Abel felt, even though they were surrounded be people.

I really made a judgement on this one before I really knew what was going on. I thought I knew the characters motives, specifically speaking of Corinne's parents, but I was so wrong. Sometimes we can get an impression of a person and it's not what it all seems. Sometimes we try to protect those we love and think we can shield them from the bad stuff but life has a wicked sense of humor and can destroy the facade of thinking everything is okidory.

This was such an interesting well thought out story with an unexpected revelation when I found out what was the ultimate Hoax. Very good short and sweet story. So much for keeping it short.

I have just fallen in love with this series and couldn't wait to read the third installment, Down 'N' Derby, which is Maddox's story. Maddox is the youngest of the Black brothers. We read Owen, the oldest brother's story, in book one, and Falcon's story in book two. Of course the stories wouldn't be complete without the derby girls that are the main characters in them, Nellie and Reed. In book three we meet Storey, Maddox's love interest. Maddox has just graduated from high school. He has show more been carrying a big secret around with him since he was 9 years old, one that not even his brothers know about. He is determined to find his biological father, so he and his cousin Nixon secretly take off on a cross country road trip to do just that. After checking out couple of dead-end leads, the boys wind up in California. It is here that Maddox gets the answers to his questions, and it is here that Maddox begins his road to healing, but unbeknownst to Maddox, the family he left behind is shattered by his disappearance. Reed and Falcon have canceled the wedding until Maddox returns, and for Reed, who is Maddox's best friend, the stress of keeping Maddox's secrets is causing a huge strain on her relationship with Falcon. What will be left of the family when Maddox returns remains to be seen.

I just loved Maddox. He may just be my favorite of the Black brothers. He is sweet, a total hottie, and so funny. He also has some really deep wounds that need that have left him emotionally damanged. His healing process begins when he meets Storey. Storey works as a pin-up model under the name of Missy Hellcat, earning money to go to college. She is also a derby girl and is known as American Horror Storey. Maddox meets Storey in California, on the last leg of a road trip that he and his cousin Nixon have embarked on. Maddox feels and experiences things with Storey that he has never been able to before, and they both find themselves crazy about each other. Storey has her own darkness that she is overcoming, but with Maddox, she finally begins to see the light that accompanies at the other end of the tunnel. Everything seems to be going great until an event occurs that causes Maddox to put his walls back up, and these walls threaten to destroy everything that he and Storey have together.

Down 'N' Derby is a wonderful story with a unique theme that I found fun and entertaining. The whole roller derby aspect provides a freshconcept to this contemporary romance. I absolutely love all the characters and you really get to know them all in depth in this series. I loved that in each book, you still get to see and experience the characters that you have come to know and love in the previous book and find out what's going on in their lives. They are all still very much a part of the story. The romance in Down 'N' Derby is sweet and the relationship between Maddox and Storey was endearing. I also loved the epilogue that Lila Felix wrote. She has done this in a way that I have never seen before, and it was absolutely awesome. Not only does she make you completely satisfied with where the story and the lives of the characters are at now, but she sets you up for a new story that is yet to come. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Down 'N' Derby and I would most definitely recommend it, and the entire series.

3 Loving the Characters Stars

I loved this book but, I think what confused me is I went into the book expecting it to be about roller derby but, the thing was I think about 15% of the book had anything to do with such. I think that the characters were there and there was just enough background information that I was able to fall in love with them. I understood the emotions and the feelings of the characters and I loved seeing them make it through the trials and tribulations of life. I think show more the reason that I only liked the book and did not fall in love is because of my expectations going into the book. I did feel as if the author kept bring stuff up and although it was needed at time everytime that something happened we did not need to hear about Owen's story everytime something happened. I think it would have been better if he waited to tell her until closer to the end. Maybe it was just me but, I still think the book was a 3 star book! show less
