An amazing account of thirty days of combat with a battalion of the 1st Infantry Division as it makes it's way from Omaha Beach to St Lo. The author who is the young battalion commander, chooses to give his account in the third person as he feels that he was an observer of himself as well as the battle. Excellent description of battle by a man who was not only an able leader, but a fine writer. Suspenseful, fast reading.
