THRILLING and unique!

THRILLING and unique!

First off let me say I loved this book! I thoroughly enjoyed her previous book in this series about Big Darcy. I was shocked this story wasn't a time travel story like the first, but she was sent to a different realm. It was nice to read a tale with new views and story. It wasn't the same old werewolf or time travel book. There was lots of adventure and intrigue. Old characters return from book 1, and we meet new, exciting (and some brutish) show more characters. I was shocked how much I liked Anya in this book considering what vile things she did in the previous one. However, one doesn't necessarily need to read book one in order to understand this one. The author does a great job of recapping the important bits through this book. I do recommend book 1 though as it's great fun to read. I can't wait for the next book in this series!!!! show less
So I will start off with saying that romance is not my preference for books or much of anything, in fact this is the first book of this sort that I have read. But that being said it was a sweet book with a lot of appealing, thought through charicters. I admit I found some of the less appearing charicters more interesting then some of the main characters and wanted to see more of them. Towards the end there are several time skips, and while their purpose was clear they were a bit irrating. show more Otherwise my only objection is that apparently every book I pick up will have a horse death in it this summer. show less
What a sweet treat of a story. A young widow with a baby is awakened by police siren next door. When an officer comes by to ask if she had seen anything, she recognizes him as her high school crush, her friend's older brother. He invites her to be his date for his sister's wedding to help him avoid his ex. She in turn bargains for a casual hook up in trade. He wants something more permanent but can he convince her to try again after losing her husband less than a year ago. Plus, she has a show more young baby.
Watching the relationship flower and grow was a joyful and touching read. This book mkes me want to go back and read the earlier books in this series.

I could not finish this. I too was very disappointed, I was looking for a fun read. It was (erroneously) recommended by Bookbub as a good read for Outlander fans. Sorry NOT. Melanie is annoying, Darcy is unbelievably ridiculous.

I guess the Romance genre (“bodice ripper” seems apropos), assuming this is a good example of it, just isn’t for me.
