A great homage to bad girl b-movies of the '50s and '60s with the dial turned way up. Packed full of crass sexual innuendos, vulgarity, violence and general grotesque and deplorable human behavior - I enjoyed the hell out of this book. Looking forward to more adventures.
This is the second over-the-top feminist revenge-fantasy satire influenced by the movies of the 1950s that I've read in the last few weeks. But since this one is by a man, the powerful women characters all sport sexy clothes and high heels. Go figure.

The story has an underground comix vibe that will appeal to some, I'm sure, but it just leaves me feeling like I'm show more reading nonsense that doesn't follow any sort of rules.

For Trump haters, there is a pretty obvious stand-in who gets his comeuppance in the end.

This book is not for the faint of heart. If swearing, drinking, violence and badass women are not your thing-don't pick up this book.

It's my thing and I absolutely loved it! I found this book after my boss circled it in one of our independent publishing catalogs we get at the Library. She knows me well. This book is so intense! These women are not holding back anything. The art and the writing are amazing and it's very tempting to buy show more another copy so I can cut some pages out and frame them.

It's so good!

Welcome to Monster Town is a kitschy and fun picture book by Ryan Heshka. It has the most brilliant colors and is a cute little romp through a night in the life of Monster Town. The pictures have a lot of pop culture references for adults -- "Lugosi Elected" on the front page of the Monster Town Gazette, letters spilled by the mail carrier that are addressed to P. Lorre, B. Rathbone and L. Chaney -- but they don't detract at all from the simpler pleasures of this book.

We were just a little show more disappointed that this one was written for quite a young age group. It has one simple descriptive sentence per page -- although the vocabulary level makes this a "read-it-to-me" sort of book. Still, it's fun and a great choice for the season.
