Veronica is a lawyer who has put off everything, including romance and finding her forever person so that she can become a partner at her firm. But, she can see her partnership finally happening and so she lets her assistant Bea (and Veronica's mother) set her up on 30 first dates in 30 days.

All the dates happen at the same bar, Monaghan's. And that's where she meets Rachel, the cousin of the owner who sometimes subs in for Charlotte, the owner, behind the literal bar. And so, Rachel, as show more well as three of the regulars get to see a parade of --usually-- cringe worthy dates that Veronica has. But, all the while, Veronica and Rachel are falling in love. The only problem is that Rachel has the biggest bunch of baggage I've ever read about in a lesfic book. Yikes. So, can the two of them get around that is the question.

It was a book that probably would have been a three star one for me usually, except, it pulled me in so fast, and every time I had to put it down, I really, really didn't want to (darn work). It was a fun and at times emotionally intense read. Ooh--ooh, and Ana and Madison were even in there too. Connected Universe for the win!! (Also, boo, I needed more Bea...)

I received this book via Netgalley thanks to Bold Strokes Books.

Holly is a writer for a thinly veiled Hallmark like channel (or maybe these days it's more like GAC). Meredith is an executive at the same channel. They run into each other on vacay in Hawai'i. It goes great until they get back to LA, and Meredith and Holly are suddenly in different positions. They sorta make it work, but, they also hit some really big bumps in their relationship.

We also get to go home with Holly to her "north pole esque" hometown. Oh, and it took me awhile to get used to show more Holly's friends, but, once I did they were sone of my favorite characters too.

I'd love another book in this Christmas world too. And as a fan of the good Hallmark and Lifetime Christmas seasons, I loved just how much this was like one of those, but, ya know... way more lesbian.

i'm a little bummed by this one. until the last third i was thinking it would be a decently mid/higher three star read for me (which for me is a good rating just means, 'i liked this!, but it likely won't stick with me for super long') but i think i just find the idea that people fall In Love in a matter of days to be too absurd and annoying. i liked bridget and kennedy's dynamic that was building but my god LADIES YOU ARE NOT IN LOVE you've known each other three days and you want to fuck show more and you like each other.

come on now.

in the end i enjoyed myself, but i think by the end of it i ended up being more of a 2.5 read for me. it's not one that's gonna stick, and i've enjoyed more much better from this author.

(i'm also not a huge fan of lula larkin as a narrator, and kinda bummed that she's suddenly everywhere with a lot of sapphic authors i usually like. she's not terrible, but she doesn't have a lot of varriation in character voices and i don't find her performance as authentic/getting to me in the same way i do with other narrators that i love).

Holly Hudson is a story editor and screenwriter for a small TV network. Her dream is to write a lesbian holiday romance movie. She has other dreams, involving Meredith Drake, another employee of the network upon whom Holly has a massive crush.

"The Holiday Treatment" throws Holly and her crush together under extremely unlikely circumstances, and against all odds they hit it off, only to have life get in the way. It sounds like a standard rom-com, and it is, but it's also really funny. I'm not show more ordinarily a laugh-out-loud reader but I chuckled my way through most of this book. The story is told from Holly's point of view and her self-doubt and tendency to ramble struck a chord with me from the first chapter. It's also heart-warming and hella sexy, much more so than you're likely to see in any made-for-TV holiday movie. show less
