“You know, there are so many things that can go wrong in this world, you could spend your whole life worrying about them and forget to appreciate every moment you have with someone. Then, you're like, 'God, why wasn't I thankful for what I had when I had it?'" He glances over at me. "You know what the secret to a happy life is?”

Violet Mercer is coming home from a summer spent working for at her grandmother's bakery in Hawaii. Instead of returning home to the faithful, loyal boyfriend show more that she thought she had been with for more than a year, she finds that the previously mentioned faithful and loyal boyfriend is not as faithful, or loyal as she thought. To add to the equation, she finds her mother rushing into a marriage with a man whom Violet has never met, who has a drop dead gorgeous and incredibly sexy son in Zane. The guy who she happens to embarass herself in front of before even meeting him.

As Violet's mother and Zane's father jet off on a pre-ceremony honeymoon, Violet finds herself living with Zane. They both realize that there is an undeniable connection between them, both physically and mentally. The two tiptoe around one another for a while, unable to admit to what they really wanted, and the consequences that could follow. Just when things are seemingly perfect and happy, Violet finds that Zane hasn't exactly been completely honest with her. And this lack of truthfulness, this secret, is big enough to tear them apart. Maybe even for good.

I really enjoyed this book. I sped through it in a couple of hours, and I have to say, you really shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. Where young adults often follow a typical plot development, Falling For The Ghost of You is unique and refreshing. I adored Violet as a character, she is a typical teenager, yet still realistic and responsible. She is confident and awkward and insecure, all at the same time. Zane is a well-written character as well. He is mysterious yet dorky, cocky yet sweet. I did not even register his secret. It was completely unexpected, yet the hints were there. Kudos, Nicole Christie! I liked the secondary characters and that they had their own stories, but they did not overshadow the story of Violet and Zane. The book is hilarious, the banter between Violet and Zane is definitely my highlight; the two main characters really reflect one another.

All in all, this was a short, quick read. I enjoyed it very much, and I will definitely be checking out other works by this author.

Rolling on the floor laughing romantic fantasy YA
The story is about a seventeen year old teen girl Violet, who took on her mothers cancer, bills, school, and a horrendous boyfriend situation only to stumble into the most gorgeous man at her worst moment. Her and her mother have an extremely strong and close relationship, and when her mother tell her she is getting married, she is thrilled for her. Everything is about to change for them, the fiancee is extremely rich so they will not have show more money issues anymore. He also has a son, Zane, and yes, he is the one that saw her at her worst and is jaw dropping drool worthy handsome. This is the beginning on the funniest scene I've read of hoof in mouth disease. I'm not telling you anymore, it would ruin the ride.
The only negative thing I can say about the book is Violet's immature actions, and attitude get on my nerves a bit but it was an accurate example of teen coming into adulthood issues.

What surprise, I found in this kindle freebie, lost and forgotten on my shelf. I loved the humor, had the best laugh at this mother daughter hoof in mouth experts duo.
Read it, it's romantic, funny and unrealistic, which is prefect.

Wow...this book was too much teen angst. The MC was probably the most insane character I have ever read about. First, she is obviously in a borderline abusive relationship in the beginning and she kind of admits how messed up it is. But her actions throughout the book are just overly dramatic. I mean, WAY over the top. She makes Bella Swan look normal. I skimmed through about 70% of the book. I am not sure why I didn't just give up entirely...Normally I like the young adult romances-I don't show more mind the overly dramatic stuff, but this book was just way too much. show less
Maybe it was me or maybe I just felt this scerio has been done over and over and over. I mean how many 17 year old virgins meet a "sex god" that drops everything to pursue them...oh and they are extremely rich. I AM SO SICK OF VIRGINS! lol

Anyway on a positive note. I enjoyed the storyline. Poor girl having to seek refuge in her hot step brothers house just thought that Violet should have been a little older (college maybe) and back to DEFINITELY NOT A VIRGIN lol. Two people attracted to each show more other thrown in the same situation...booom FIREWORKS.

Ok that is all the end.
