I love reading old science, and in particular old science history books, to hone my sense of the process and philosophy of science. This provides a great history of chemistry, but being written in *1910*, a year before the structure of the atom and its implications for chemistry began to be unpicked, the second volume also offers a great picture of chemistry at the time. The book is overall a bit stamp-collection-ish at times, detailing important reactions or processes at the expense of show more their significance or personal stories, but is an easy read. show less
