This has to be one of the worst books I've read in a while. It started off as a murder mystery and then turned into a soft core porn novel and then back to a murder mystery. The transitions from past to present were awkward and the editing was abysmal. If you are going to self-publish, know this.....spell check is not your editing God! Find an unbiased, educated "first reader" to check for errors. This book was filled with them. I felt as if I were reading something from a teenage girl. show more Also, make sure your title has something to do with your book. show less

Review: 2 stars
General: This is the first in a series and the overall idea for the book drew me in from the start. The characters had such amazing back stories there was so much potential.I thought the suspense element was nicely done as well as there being some truly original conversations throughout. This was a great example of an NA book versus a YA. The show more themes and concepts in this book were deep and dark, things traditionally not meant to be read by preteens and even 16 year olds depending on their personality. I liked being shown the backstory and not told it. However there were so many flips that it was actually too much as I was lost to the present accounts and sometimes had a little bit of trouble connecting what time frame I was in because the shifts were a bit abrupt.
The biggest flaw in the book was grammatical errors. I know there have been a few versions of this book and am uncertain if the corrections have been made. However I feel you should be putting the best possible copy out right away or taking a step back and fixing it first. Also, the characters were different based on POV. I loved that we had shifts in POV I find it essential to truly like a character. Personal perception is key of course, but the personal and external were so far apart I had to wonder why.
Characters: I am going to skip the character review for the simple reason that I am not certain which description of the characters was the real one. Both were very very well done, but due to such drastic shifts I don’t want to label them and give people improper perceptions. show less

I really enjoyed this book. I received it as an early reviewer and I'm glad I did. I think there were some disconnects within the story that left you wondering how did we make the leap from accident investigation to murder plot only to see it was really nothing in the end....that didn't add up, but the rest in between made up for it. I sense there is more to come from the author with e loose threads of the supporting characters in the book, Stacy, Siri and perhaps aunt Jane and show more sarge.....these characters were written with such a strong presence, it would be a shame their voices don't get heard. show less

I received this from Library Thing to read and review. I have very mixed feelings about this book. I think the plot/storyline is good, but the execution could use some work. The story revolves around Liz, whose parents have died in a bad accident, who meets and falls for Nick, an Air Force vet whose goal is to be a fighter pilot, when they meet in college. A lot of the story covers their on and off again romance and dragged for about three quarters of the book. After about 70% of the book, show more the author suddenly plunged into a mystery about Liz’s parents’ death, how or if Nick was involved and someone looking for Liz to kill her. The book did become interesting then, but, by that time, I was so bored with reading about the daily routine and life of a rather immature college girl, that I had practically given up on the book. I felt the author suddenly realized there was a real need to somehow make the book something other than a bring story about a college relationship and life of college students and thus began the great mystery plot. The character of Nick was pretty well developed, but the character of Liz was not. In addition, there were others in their families who kept coming in and out of the story making it difficult to follow. There just were not good transitions or explanations about what was going on and how it all was connected. Added to this are several wording and structure errors/disconnects. This book could have used a good editor, who would hopefully have tightened all this up and made the book more interesting to read. As I said, the storyline is good. The execution just needs work. show less
