As I read this book I kept wondering why so many readers kept stating how much they loved Lucas. Lucas was sweet, Lucas with this that and the other. Now don't I didn't dislike Lucas but I didn't think he deserved all that praise. Lucas seriously messed on Laney, here she was his best friend and he supposedly loved her and he took her virginity that she had saved for him. Then the next day he shows up with Grace his girlfriend that he had cheated on with Laney, and slept over her house after show more taking Laney's virginity. What? Now I know some of you will defend his actions by saying her brother just got in an accident and she was broken hearted and he didn't want to add to that, I get that part but you can not tell me that he didn't have any opportunity to tell Laney what happened, nope yeah right. So you could not judge Laney for not wanting anything to do with him, he deserved and then some and I am glad he was broken hearted, now he got to feel what Laney has felt for years while he was with other girls. I loved when Leo called him out on him. All that said I am glad he woke up and that when Laney needed him he was there and eventually they got their HEA..But no praise for Lucas more for Leo and even Laney herself for what she went thru she was prime for the picking show less
Mikayla's prom night was suppose to be magical, perfect, a night to remember. That is until when she walks in on her boyfriend of 4 years and her best friend hooking up, all she wants to do now is go home and spend the rest of the night in bed with a tub of ice cream.

Just when she's about to give up and skip prom all together, a tall, sexy guy with an Australian accent steps in and invites her to hang out with him and his friends at their prom.

Mikayla's night seems to have been saved, she show more has more fun than she's had in a long time and more fun than she would have had if she had attended her own prom.

Jake seems to be the perfect guy and Mikayla is more than interested to see where it may lead with him.

However when Jake and Mikayla pull up to her house in the limo and its surrounded by police cars and ambulances her whole world comes crashing down around her.

Suddenly Makayla has no one, no boyfriend to hold her, no best friend to comfort her. No one but Jake, who steps up and takes on the roll of everyone she's lost.

They only know each other one night before they become everything to one another and it doesn't take long before doubt seeps in and others begin to wonder if it's circumstances that not only brought them together but circumstances that are keeping them from moving on.

Are their feelings for each other real or merely the result of a tragic bond?

3 hours.

That's how long it took me to read this book.

I picked it up and I didn't move until I was finished.

I can't even explain to you how much I loved it. From the very first page to the last sentence I was hooked.

When you first start this book you're fooled into thinking it's nothing but a cute, romantic, contemporary.

Her prom is ruined, a cute guy steps in to save the day, they fall in love, blah, blah blah.

But in an instant McLean throws you a hard ball and you're left staring at the same page reading and re-reading the same sentence trying not to cry on your iPad.

I loved the dynamic relationship between Jake and Kayla, how understanding and open his family was towards her and how loving they were.

Jake's circle of friends were one of my favorite parts. They were all so lively and unique. I loved the scenes with them, especially Lucy, book nerd Lucy and drunk Lucy.

The whole time I was reading this I couldn't quit imagining Jay McLean as the Evil Queen (in Once Upon A Time) ripping my heart out of my chest and squeezing it. Everyone once in a while she'd put it back only to repeat the process a couple chapters later. And for that she is now one of my all time favorite authors.

I can't say enough good things about this book, just stop reading this review now and go pick yourself up a copy... Now... NOW!!!

Until next time,
Ginger

I so much more than liked this book.

It was freaking amazing. Jay McLean, where the hell have you been hiding??? Damn!

Ok, so here are my feelings:

Kayla (or Mickey if you aren't family) has a charmed life. A boyfriend that is her high school sweetheart. A best friend that is with her through everything. Parents that are adorably in love and a home life that is full of love and happiness.

Until everything is ripped away from her in one fateful night. Everything. Her boyfriend, her show more best friend and her family. All gone.

"In one night my fairytale ended. Or it may have begun..."

But also on that night, Kayla meets Jake. And she doesn't know it, but she is standing in front of her forever.

Jake. Oh, sweet, sweet Jake. He isn't perfect...but he is damn close. He is her fairytale. He is her prince. He is just awesome. In so many ways.

"Do not settle for anything less than the Jake Andrews of the world. Because they exist, and not just in fairytales."

You know what is insane about this book? The delayed gratification. Holy CRAP!! I have never been so anxious for two people to just freaking KISS! It was killing me. Yep, I was in pain. I wanted that smooch more than I wanted someone to kiss ME! I was dying for it. Well played Jay McLean, well played indeed. You made me stay up reading until a ridiculous hour to get that damn kiss. *sigh* It was worth it though, totally worth it. (and I am not going to tell you all when it happens!)

The other amazing thing about this book is the number of wonderful secondary characters there are. Lucy and Cam?? OMG!! They just made me want to hang out with them! Even James ended up being awesome. Really...everyone minus one major asshole was awesome. And that asshole? Damn!! What we learn about her at the end? Blew.my.mind.

Ok, my lovelies. You know I won't steer you wrong. Go get this book and read it. And fall a little bit in love with Jake and the whole crew.

And the great news? Logan is coming with his own book soon! So we will get more of all of them! (hopefully!)
