According to Wikipedia, Jules Poiret was inspired by Sherlock Holmes and in turn inspired Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot. Created in 1909 by writer Frank Howell Evans, Jules Poiret is one of the grandfathers of the British detective genre. In this short story of 27 pages that introduces us to Jules Poiret, Detective Jules Poiret falls ill. From his hospital bed he and his assistant Miss Sarah Long have to solve the murder of the lady on the bus. As a longtime Christie fan it is interesting show more to see the parallels. show less
