A pleasant little story of a kidnapping from the point of view of the six-year-old kidnapee, who is a close observer of adult behaviour but not very well-equipped to make sense of it. But it doesn't really seem to go anywhere or have any real point to make.
This 1961 Boekenweek gift was from one of the years when you had to guess the author, in this case it turned out to be translator, journalist and author of radio plays Agaath van Ree (real name Anna Hirsch; "Hirsch" = "Ree" = "deer"), who show more seems to have dropped off the literary map rather after getting this commission. The line illustrations and cover art were by the well-known book illustrator Lucie Kurpershoek. show less
