So stinkin’ cute
5 stars
Like the other books in the Cocky Hero Club, this book takes place in the Cocky Hero world that Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward created. Lucky Bastard is related to Cocky Bastard and while the couple from that book, Chance and Aubrey, appear as supporting cast in this one, this book still stands completely alone.
This novel focuses on the relationship of Emma and Landon from day 1 - their first meeting, through to their happily ever after. Their first meeting is really show more cute and it really set the tone for the whole novel with the banter between our couple. The pair had instant chemistry and I loved both characters from that moment on.
Emma was wonderful and I adored her sense of humour. She never cuts Landon a break and I loved how she knew herself - that she couldn’t have sex without catching feelings, and didn't deviate from her course. Personally, I would have given in in a hot second, if a 6 foot+, gorgeous football player was turning his attentions on me. But fair play to Ms Emma for holding out as long as she did.
Her job was made even harder because Landon. Was. Everything. Imagine the perfect mix of a cocky alpha with a wicked sense of humour but also the sweetest guy - all wrapped up in a sinfully gorgeous package. Plus, he absolutely worships Emma, despite his own confusion and slight worry over the way he feels.
The whole story was, I suppose ‘gentle’ is the right word, but without any negative connotations it may conjure. There weren't any misunderstandings to overcome, no angst or drama. It’s the simple story of a guy chasing after a girl, them becoming friends, then becoming so much more. Oh, there’s a little something towards the end to give us a little bit of extra before it’s all wrapped up. The whole novel felt a little bit different - relying on the writing, the relationships, the banter and chemistry between our couple to carry the story rather than throwing in lots of happenings and plot twists. And carry the story they did. I was hooked from the very first page and I just loved reading the progression of Emma and Landon. I feel slightly bereft knowing that I won’t be able to keep reading about their lives and what happens after the epilogue(s). Yes, this book gets all the points because it has not one but two epilogues. Brilliant!
There’s a nice dash of heat to the story, too, which I'm always down for. Nothing too raunchy but I loved seeing the chemistry translate into the bedroom. And bathroom. And I think there was a little something in the living room, too!
This is my first introduction to the writing of Kaylee Ryan and I very much enjoyed it. She really brought me into the story and I adored her characters, her writing and how she knew exactly how I want the perfect love depicted. Now if she could find me my very own Landon then I would pledge my undying devotion to her. A wonderful story and 5 stars from me. show less

How many guys do you know that will step in and take their unborn child without a second thought? Becomes a single dad with no support system in place? Evan Chamberlain will and did that in a heartbeat when his girlfriend Misty told him she was going to get rid of their baby he didn’t even blink before he said he would take the baby.
After the dust settles and all is said and done, Even is in serious need of some help, only he has no idea where or who he is going to get it from. His best show more friend Aaron is willing to help, but what can two guys do for one baby. In steps Aaron’s kid sister who is not such a kid anymore. Freshly graduated from college and moved back home, McKinley is willing to help her best friend Even with anything he needs for his baby from shopping to setting up the nursery, their friendship grows in ways that neither expected.
This book brought out all the feels. I love the banter back and forth between all of the characters; they are like one big happy family. There are major twists and turns that I certainly didn’t expect and it just made it all the more better!! I want to give this SIX solid stars!! show less

Unexpected Odds is the fifth novel in the Unexpected Arrivals series by Kaylee Ryan. I think it's the final book since all the people seem to have found their soulmates, but I might be wrong. I have loved every book I read in the series (skipped book 4 due to some pet peeves though) and I know that I will keep reading whatever the author decides to write next.
Like it happed with the other books in the series, the blurb doesn't reveal much about the plot, so I won't either. I am only going show more to say that this is a second chance romance because I also need to address something to the people who are like me. Neither party slept with someone else during the separation, which was a relief considering that Kent kept saying how he never stopped loving Delaney. If Delaney had slept with someone else during their time off, I would have forgiven it because the circumstances in this book are not usual.
Kent is an intense man. Once he realized that the love of his life was back into town, he did everything he could to keep her and I couldn't love him more for it. He was the person Delaney needed in her life and Delaney brought back the Kent that was lost. Their story didn't end so well the first time and they tried to redeem that. I cannot say anything else in fear of revealing something. The books in the series are the kind of books where you need to go completely blind in order to enjoy them at their fullest. I am only gonna say that I loved having Kent's family around because they brought so much warmth with them. I would definitely recommend the book, without a second thought!

Definite was a frustrating book. To be more specific, Lauren was frustrating. A lot. I was already mad at her, by the time I reached chapter 3. She was pushing Tristian away when the only thing he was doing was putting all his effort into showing her how much she meant to him. She was just assuming that Tristian wouldn't want to deal with some things and he would be out of her life. I, who knew him for a very short time, knew that he would never do what Lauren thought he would and she, a show more person who has spent a lot of time with him, thought the worst of him. I could understand some of her hesitation, but not all of it and that made the whole reading experience worse. She didn't have a past or something else to support her irrational way of thinking. Tristian spent the whole book proving that he was a worthy man. He deserved someone and something better. He had to deal with Lauren's irrationality. After a while, the story improved and things got better for me, which is the reason why my final rating is 4 stars instead of the 2 I felt like giving for one-third of the book. show less
