This author is such a cocktease; the first book ending with a cliffhanger, the second being so damn short and having, you guessed it, yet another cliffie. I won't ever learn not to get so into a series that's not finished... But I just can't regret it this time!
I honestly hadn't expected something so good when I read the blurb. I just thought, alright, show me what you did with that idea. And I was not disappointed. I got so much more. Both books found and pushed all my buttons just right. show more The levels of hotness, chemistry and possessiveness hit the ceiling; the added factors of danger, mental instability, and smashing people's faces in made it so much harder to put down. I just can't get enough of Kage, and revealing his darker side and that certain helplessness just made it worse. I officially have a major crush. On the series of course.
Maris Black's writing was really good, considering that I'm not a big fan of 1st person POV. It was unobtrusive and not at all distractive, easy to get into. It really seemed like our boys were narrating the story.
One word: amazing. If you hadn't read it yet, get your ass in gear. I'm waiting for the final book and rereading the fuck out of them when i have them all. show less

(Can't believe I han't posted my review from Amazon. My bad.)
Wow, wow, wow...I did not expect any of that coming. I bought the book expecting it to be a little angst-filled story focusing on the wrestling and keeping their relationship a secret. What I came to see as I got into it was that the story holds SO much more. It deals (briefly) with child abuse, a sexual predator, the intricacies of needing someone so much that you turn your life upside down for them, and learning how to be in a show more relationship with that person.
My favorite part of this story was Beck. I love him, I really do. I was lost from the first time I clicked on the cover to enlarge the picture and then realized that that was supposed to be him. And he is so incredibly beautiful, with my favorite color of eyes too. Then he started to act protective, possessive, and bravely risked and changed his life completely to live how he wanted with Jeremy. And he did this all without whining or much going back and forth or being silly or immature. He is a really an incredible character inside and out, and he gives Jeremy exactly what he needs, while getting back what he's secretly craved. Jeremy is more immature and brash because he is only 18 years old--and for crying out loud he's allowed to be hormonal at that age. He hopes that by going to college he can finally be free to be himself after an abusive past.
On his first day, he meets Beck, and almost immediately gets drawn into Beck's life and has to deal with a whole string of issues to get a solid relationship with him, but it's all worth it, because those two are just wonderful together. The cast of supporting characters are pretty good, no real standouts though. I understood some innuendo and meaningful looks before the main characters did (though they caught on pretty quickly), but still I did not expect the big twist, and it completely horrified me and made me sick to my stomach. Without giving it away, I'll just say that my mouth literally dropped open while reading and I became so angry, but then the other characters stepped it up and resolved it well. All the plot twists and pieces this story reveled managed to dig deep into my emotions, and really got me involved in Beck and Jeremy from early on.
This book delves much deeper than the blurb suggests, and I highly, highly recommend it. It contains many hot athletes with very healthy sex drives (and a bit of a penchant for exhibitionism); logical, young, and brave characters; dark issues that make the characters who they are; desire and love; some coming of age and learning how to be yourself; and so much more. It is a very surprising book in how good it is, and I actually didn't want it to end. None should hesitate to read it. show less

This is a new author to me but one I'm going to watch. She is still just rough enough that her story reads as totally from the heart. I enjoyed the pace and who couldn't adore Beck and Jeremy? There was a good group of secondary characters, a lot of the vulnerable innocence found in college kids. There was a good amount of angst but I was so caught up in the story that it did not bother me. The story was over before I new it but it ended on such a high note that a sequel might only hurt it.

What a book and yes I'm still in a bit of shock. While I read the blurb and Sheziss's review I expected just hot mindless fluff…I expected a fun filled book. So yeah this one was a bit like…
We get the hotness, we get the fun...but this one is just so much more and honestly I am still a little overwhelmed with emotion with this one.
Now bear with me…as yes…I relate this book to my favorite TV show "The Walking Dead". *grins*
This book is the epitome of "don't judge a book by show more its cover"...it's more than two wrestlers having hot sex in a locker room wearing pink jock straps (yes there's that) and "The Walking Dead" is more than a show about zombies.
There’s emotion…
There are tears…
There’s heartache…
and yes there’s the need to just kick a motherfuckin asshole where it hurts…
These characters grabbed me from the start. I was drawn into their relationship so fiercely that it made what happened at 76% just unreal. I was left in a daze…
Thanks to my girl Momo for being there for me...I could not have made it without you.
I absolutely loved these characters…our MCs and their friends…what a beautiful ride this was.
If you want to see hot men pics or jock straps...see Sheezis' review or Momo's review.
Now...on to Book 2...Dan's story. :)" show less
