A close companion to the Americi family that produced Conrad of Monferrat, King of Jerusalem, William of Monferrat, first husband of the Queen of Jerusalem who married Guy of Lusignan, and Boniface of Monferrat the King of Thessalonica after the Fourth Crusade, Raimbaut was in a wonderful position to write a kiss and tell book about the Third and fourth crusades. Sadly, he never did. This is his surviving work and includes his "Epic Letter" poem.
The poems are in Provencal, with prose show more translations in English, and considerable material is found in the notes. show less
