I loved [b:Do You Know Which Ones Will Grow|10427002|Do You Know Which Ones Will Grow?|Susan A. Shea|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1333598567s/10427002.jpg|15331386] so I eagerly snapped this up when it came to my library. Interestingly, it has the same illustrator, but a different author, and yet the results are right on par. Both books ask readers to puzzle out simple but interesting questions. In Do You Know it was whether something was alive or not. In What Is Part This a variety of show more things are broken down into two parts and the kids can either guess what the second part is (from the rhymes and illustrations there are ample clues) or in some cases guess which thing is being described from the parts. Here are some examples:

Just like a bee is part BUZZ and part STING,
A rap song is part TALK and part SING.

This pretty mermaid is part FISH and part GIRL.
What's found in the sea that's part SHELL and part PEARL?

Can't wait to do this in story time.

"Same Same" is brilliant. This starts out cleverly, with Apple / Worm and then Worm / Bird, but immediately drops that and just becomes pretty pictures. Too bad.
A concept book that is a little too artsy and a not quite clear enough. Best for families who hang Warhol's tomato soup poster in the nursery....
Brilliant, original, creative. A bee is something that flies... turn the page, and it's something with stripes... on that page is a snake... which is also on the next spread of things that are long. Art is wonderful, too. The cover looks lackluster here, but irl it's actually clean, vibrant, and perfect for preschoolers.

Highly recommended to little ones, educators, and artists of all ages. Would be a great mentor text or inspiration for all sorts of classroom/ homeschool games and activities.
