Opening Sentence: "...Grumpy Old Women are a lot older than they were, they're a little fed up - quite a lot fed up, actually -and this book is dedicated to this hitherto silent majority of women of a certain age who find the whole business of being a grown-up infinitely harder than they imagined..."
Judith Holder looks at life for women of a certain age - our thoughts on body image, Christmas, travel, children, careers and grumpy old men; just to name a few areas covered in this very funny show more book. Trouble is - under the humour lies a lot of truth and I found myself nodding my head so often in agreement. Reading this book made me realise that I am not alone in being unable to open any bottles with a child-proof cap, and thinking that shop assistants are so much ruder now than they use to be, and children so much more misbehaved than they use to be.
There is a BBC TV series too - though not sure which came first the show or the book. show less

What makes these women seethe? Age, fashion, children, shopping, christmas to name but a few issues. Written in a very humourous style and with tonnes of verve. I was in kinks laughing at it on a regular basis.
This book confirmed that I am a grumpy old woman! Very funny but probably best read in small bursts!
A beautiful little gift book depicting antique Valentine's Day cards, & the history of the holiday.
